The more I work with successful people and observe how they become successful, I’m convinced: success is not the result of some magic key. It doesn’t happen to people who are smarter or prettier or more talented than everybody else, or at least that’s not how it happens most of the time. It’s much simpler than that. I think in today’s connected world there is great hope for external success, success in terms of finding an audience for one’s art, whatever the niche. There are just so many people out there, if you stick at it there are many who need what each of us is trying to do. So that call to stick with it, producing the art until one by one it gets seen, heard, shared, and loved is crucial.
For me it is continuing to mine the Christian past for wisdom in the changing and challenging present and future.

Mine is focusing on my devotional writing so that I can publish it to Kindle. Also, finishing my non-fiction book about small groups. It is finished, but need to proofread and edit. I’ve started a content management calendar too for 2015.

I’m the slinky stuck at the top of the stairs, and right in the middle on the way down is something called being self employed. I started a blog recently and have whole notebooks full of ideas and things I want to publish there. But, as a business owner for 28 years, I am stuck behind a mound of paperwork. I’m a bookkeeper by default only, and stuck on the stairs. My one thing needs to be a dedicated day to blog, at least once a week. (along with some SEO). Thanks for the wonderful observation.

Chad, I just spent a few energy filled days with my grandkids over Thanksgiving. Children’s spirits are amazing. Thanks for sharing Lucas’ example of determination. I receive your emails for professional insights so automatically after watching the video I said aloud, “keep writing”. However Lucas’ example struck another cord and suprisingly a softer response was “keep working on a few tough relationships”. How about giving him a hug! Carol
